GREAT WHITE Has 'A Lot Of Ideas' For Next Studio Album

GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall has confirmed to Travis of the North Dakota radio station 95.9 KRFF that the band is planning to release a new studio album in 2020. The effort will mark GREAT WHITE's first collection of new material with singer Mitch Malloy, who joined the band last year following the departure of Terry Ilous.

"We've already started to work on it," Mark said (hear audio below). "And I'm super excited because I've never done this before — I've never just given a singer music only, not hummed a melody or told them anything about what I was thinking on the song; just handed them a real good arrangement — what I felt was a good arrangement. And he came back with lyrics, melody, a chorus, all the lyrics written — a finished song. And I'm sitting there waiting to critique the hell out of it, and I'm going, 'This is great! This is flat-out awesome.' And I sent it to [rhythm guitarist/keyboardist] Michael [Lardie], and he's, like, 'Holy God! Can you imagine what we can do with this guy?' So we're super pumped. I've been flying up north and writing. We're kind of in a little bit of the early stages, but [we have] a lot of ideas."

He continued: "When I get excited, stuff starts coming to me and I get real pumped. It's exciting in every way with Mitch. He's a natural frontman. He's got a lot of experience onstage, so he has no problem going up there and engaging the crowd and talking with them and just giving 110 percent on his performance energy. So, yeah, all around, it's just amazing."

Ilous, formerly of '80s L.A. hard rockers XYZ, joined GREAT WHITE in 2010 after stepping in for touring vocalist Jani Lane (WARRANT).

The Ilous-led GREAT WHITE released two albums, 2012's "Elation" and 2017's "Full Circle", before Terry was dismissed from the group.

This version of GREAT WHITE is not to be confused with JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE, which features original GREAT WHITE singer Jack Russell alongside Robby Lochner (FIGHT) on guitar, Dan McNay on bass, Tony Montana on guitar and Dicki Fliszar on drums.
