GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist Talks Real Estate With THE NEW YORK TIMES

August 18, 2003

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus (ex-LOVE SPIT LOVE, PSYCHEDELIC FURS) was featured in the "Real Estate" section of the New York Times Sunday (August 17) with a spotlight on his two-bedroom apartment on Grand Street on the Lower East Side in New York City that he shares with girlfriend Jennifer Teichman.

"This is my first home," Fortus said of the apartment for which he paid $350,000 — nearly one-third the price of a similar Village two-bedroom. "It's the first time I've ever owned anything."

GUNS N' ROSES wanted Fortus to settle down in Los Angeles, where Axl Rose lives, but Fortus, 36, who grew up in St. Louis and moved to New York City when he was 25, demurred.

"I knew when I got here I was home," he said. "I never felt that sort of connection before."

Jacob Goldman, a voluble lawyer and real estate broker, said he was struck nearly speechless when he realized who Mr. Fortus was. "I did a Yahoo search, and I started saying, 'I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy,' " recalled Mr. Goldman, who is 32 and describes himself as a "massive GUNS N' ROSES fan." Read more.
