Harley-Davidson Run To Benefit VENOMIN JAMES Drummer

April 26, 2010

A Harley-Davidson benefit run will take place in the Cleveland, Ohio area on Saturday, May 15, 2010 to benefit Jared Koston and his family.

Koston, the 40-year old drummer of the Cleveland, Ohio-based metal band VENOMIN JAMES, was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma cancer.

The Kostons have four children, no health insurance or current employment due to Jared's illness.

The Koston Benefit Run will start at Western Reserve Harley-Davidson in Mentor, Ohio (8567 Tyler Blvd. - 440-974-6900) at 11 a.m. and end at Liberty Harley-Davidson in Boston Heights, Ohio (334 E. Hines Hill Rd. - 330-650-2799). Tickets are being sold for $7.00 a piece with proceeds going to the Koston family. The run will feature food, beverages, a bake sale, 50/50 raffle and a raffle for donations made by local businesses and a live performance at Liberty Harley-Davidson following the run by Auburn recording artists H.A.T.E. Donations from the raffles and bake sale will go to the Koston family for medical, travel and other expenses.

Riders are encouraged to pre-register for the run by contacting the event organizer, Kristen Matejka, at [email protected]

"Jared's situation reminded me of my father," says Matejka. "I lost my dad a couple of years ago to the same illness.

"When I read the story about the Kostons in the news I wanted to help. I did not know this family personally at the time but do know the devastation and pain melanoma or any cancer causes.

"In my mind, the reason we are here on this earth is to help others. The Kostons need our help. I am a very spiritual person. In life I can take nothing with me but to somehow make a difference to other people's lives."
