Heavy Metal Comes To Thunder Bay Art Exhibit

February 6, 2009

According to Thunder Bay's Source, the "Heavy Metal: A Fusion of Art & History, Chapter II" will open at the Thunder Bay Historical Museum in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, February 7 and will be on display until April 19. The exhibit features the work of 20 artists from across North America, including several from Thunder Bay. The display includes heavy metal rock band portraits, medieval armour, metal statues and a custom motorcycle.

Event curator Patte Foreman said the exhibit is about letting each artist express what their interpretation of heavy metal is.

The show kicks off Saturday night with the "Leather and Lace" gala at the museum. This event and accompanying exhibition promises to be both an eye and ear opening combination of local historical objects let out of the vaults for a blind date with today's contemporary artworks. This promises to be a dramatic and entertaining evening of performance and music. In addition, live music will be provided by the local band THREE KORD KILLERS.
