HIMSA Begins Recording New Album
April 23, 2007Seattle-based metal quintet HIMSA is scheduled to enter the studio today (Monday, April 23) to begin recording its highly anticipated Century Media Records debut. The group will track the drums, bass and guitars with Steve Carter (who produced the band's "Courting Tragedy and Disaster" album); Devin Townsend (LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR) will oversee the vocal recording, and the renowned producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED) will handle the mixing duties. The album is currently set for a late August release.
Commented bassist Derek Harn: "The new album draws from the strengths of our last two records, 'Courting Tragedy and Disaster' and 'Hail Horror', but this is an entirely new chapter for HIMSA and our fans. Sammi Curr (guitars) wrote a lot of the music for 'Courting', and Kirby Johnson (guitars) wrote most of the tracks on 'Hail Horror' (when Sammi wasn't in the band),so the two of them have joined forces to craft a whole new level of rage. We're looking at about 10 or 11 songs right now, and are extremely proud of them.
"We are stoked to be collaborating with the aural assault team of Steve Carter, Devin Townsend and Tue Madsen. These are guys we trust and respect. We worked with Steve on 'Courting'. We did 'Hail Horror' with Tue. Devin is the new factor in all of this. He's doing the vocal tracking, and we're looking forward to his searing, manic, vocal skills giving new dimension to Pettibone's throaty mayhem.
"This album will be an evolution of everything people have grown to expect and respect from our enduring and grumpy metal band, with a few new twists. We're older, but we're wiser and faster than ever. We can't wait to see our fans around the globe this fall. Till then, stay true and keep the horns raised high."
