IAN GILLAN's 'Smoke This!' Book Is 'Fascinating Journey Through The Heyday Of Rock N' Roll'

DEEP PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan has just published his book, "Smoke This! The Warblings, Rants, Philosophies, and Musings from the Singer of Deep Purple". In a posting on Gillan's official web site, the book is described as "a feast of information, pontifications, and visual representation of legendary DEEP PURPLE vocalist Ian Gillan that takes you on a fascinating journey through the heyday of rock n' roll and lends uncensored insight into those halcyon days. With more than 200 photos documenting Ian's travels and travails, 'Smoke This!' is a visual and educational treat for old and new Ian Gillan, DEEP PURPLE, and rock 'n' roll fans alike. It's a gorgeous coffee table book splashed in color and awash in stories about DEEP PURPLE, life on the road, songwriting, and the day to day life of a rock star. Ian also includes the lyrics to his songs including classics like 'Smoke on the Water', 'Perfect Strangers', 'No Laughing in Heaven', 'Trashed' and more. Ian Gillan will embark on a solo tour of Australia in late January in support of his "Gillan's Inn" album. Confirmed dates are as follows:

Gillan recently completed a five-week North American run to promote "Gillan's Inn", which he released to celebrate 40 years in the music business. The CD, which came out in April, spans the four decades of Gillan's professional life and features some of his friends as guest performers, including his mates in DEEP PURPLE, the GOO GOO DOLLS, and singer-guitarist Jeff Healey, among many others.

"Gillan's Inn" is a DualDisc, and the DVD side has a track-by-track commentary from Gillan, along with scenes from the recording sessions, rare live footage, and other extras.

DEEP PURPLE recently resumed its two-year-long world tour behind its latest album, "Rapture of the Deep".
