3 INCHES OF BLOOD Guitarist On Forthcoming DVD, RUSH, New Material
February 28, 2011Shon Troelstrup of RockStarWeekly.com recently conducted an interview with guitarist Shane Clark of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada metallers 3 INCHES OF BLOOD. A couple of excepts from the chat follow below.
On the band's forthcoming DVD:
Shane: "We've been working on this all year. It started when we did our last headlining show here at the Rickshaw [in Vancouver]. So we got footage from that show and a few other shows in town. We did a show with ALEXISONFIRE at the PNE Forum, we filmed a house party that we did in town, and we did a surprise show at the Astoria.. It's really going to be a bit more of a documentary, as well as performance. What we wanted to do was have footage from different types of shows. It's really just something for the fans, and something for us to document."
On recording a cover of RUSH's "Anthem" during a recent session at Shostroud Productions studio, which is co-owned by Terry "Sho" Murray (of SHOCORE/CITY OF FIRE) and FEAR FACTORY/STRAPPING YOUNG LAD bassist Byron Stroud:
Shane: "For the last five years, I've had this compulsive RUSH disorder. When [the RUSH] documentary ['Beyond The Lighted Stage'] came out, it just kicked that into high gear. It's just such a great movie. You get to know the whole band a little bit better. Alex Lifeson is one of my favorite guitar players. The way he plays, no one else sounds like him. That's very influential for me."
On the band's new material:
Shane: "I think the vibe will be a little more aggressive than the last one. A little heavier. We don't like repeating ourselves. We explored a lot of our more '70s hard rock and metal influences on the last one. We'll try stuff and see how it sounds, but it probably won't have that overt element to it."
