INSANITY: A New Chapter Begins

October 6, 2008

Guitarist/vocalist Dave Gorsuch of the long-running San Francisco Bay Area death metallers INSANITY has issued the following update:

"The weekend of October 4-5, 2008 marked the first full band rehearsals since the bands long hiatus following original drummer Bud Mills diagnosis of blood clots and cancer in July of 2007 (as most of you know, Bud lost his battle with esophageal cancer on November 14th, 2007). But a new lineup has been assembled and INSANITY will be back on track soon and booking shows (first in the S.F. Bay Area and in Southern California). In addition, the 'Visions of Apocalypse' release is nearing completion although there was a delay due to technical problems with the computer and ProTools system used to mix the album (Dave also got sidetracked by working on three new songs for a third album the band would like to record by the end of 2009). There is also a two-CD release in the works that will be distributed in China and Japan and available through mail order from Xmusic in China. INSANITY is also talking to Hells Headbangers about a two-LP release on vinyl, so hopefully that will be going into production before the end of the 2008. As for the 'Visions' release, although it is still being shopped to labels for distribution, a small number of advance copies will be manufactured and available through the band's website at in the next couple months!"

INSANITY was formed in 1985 in the San Francisco Bay Area and unleashed some of the most intensely brutal death metal of that time. According to the band's official bio, Bud Mills "innovated the 1-1 drum beat that was faster than the fastest thrash beat used at the time."

In the summer of 2007 as the band was preparing to record and preparing for shows in Northern and Southern California, Bud was diagnosed with bloodclots. After more tests cancer was discovered and it turned out to be esophageal cancer stage 4.
