JOB FOR A COWBOY Guitarist Comments On 'Best Underground Band' Award

June 15, 2007

Red hot extreme metal unit JOB FOR A COWBOY was named "Best Underground Band" at the 2007 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. JOB FOR A COWBOY joins an esteemed list of metal titans that have laid claim to the award including SATYRICON, MESHUGGAH, MASTODON and IN FLAMES. The band was present at the June 11 award ceremony in London to accept the award onstage.

JOB FOR A COWBOY, who delivered an exhilarating live set as part of the U.K.'s Download festival on June 8 are in the midst of a host of European festival performances in support of their critically acclaimed debut album "Genesis". "Genesis" debuted at #54 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in its first week of release, joining the initial releases from STONE SOUR and DAMAGEPLAN (which featured members of SLIPKNOT and PANTERA respectively) amongst the highest charting metal debuts to crack Billboard's Top 200 since SLIPKNOT's 1999 self-titled album.

"We're happy to accept this award, and are proud to be a part of the underground scene," states JOB FOR A COWBOY guitarist Ravi Bhadriraju. "We'd like to thank all of the fans who voted for us, Metal Hammer for giving us the opportunity to be nominated, our management and Metal Blade Records for everything. We're in Europe right now with CONVERGE, ANIMOSITY and RISE AND FALL. We'll be heading out to Sounds of the Underground in a few weeks. Come hang out and have a good time!"

"I am truly thrilled and humbled by this great award," comments Metal Blade Records owner and founder Brian Slagel. "We are very happy at how well JOB FOR A COWBOY has been received for such a new, young band. This is just the beginning of a long and great career for JFAC, and I am happy we could start off with such a prestigious award. Thanks to Metal Hammer and everyone involved and congrats to JOB FOR A COWBOY!" Slagel, the man known for releasing the first recordings by METALLICA in 1982 and signing SLAYER the very next year, welcomed JOB FOR A COWBOY to his label's roster in 2006.

In additional JOB FOR A COWBOY news, the band has announced the first dates of its summer U.S. headlining tour, set to launch on August 13, immediately following their participation as part of the 2007 Sounds of the Underground tour. Support on the JOB FOR A COWBOY tour will be provided by A LIFE ONCE LOST, DESPISED ICON and THE FACELESS.
