JOE PERRY: I Would Never Deliberately Push STEVEN TYLER Offstage

August 20, 2010

According to TMZ.com, Joe Perry claims he didn't intend to shove Steven Tyler offstage during an AEROSMITH concert in Toronto, Ontario, Canada earlier this week no matter how intentional it may have looked on video.

A representative for the band tells TMZ.com, "Joe wanted his fans to know he would never deliberately push Steven off the stage," adding that Joe is a "total gentleman."

Video footage of Perry bumping Tyler offstage on Tuesday night (August 17) at Toronto's Air Canada Centre can be viewed below. The fan-filmed clip was shot during "Love In The Elevator" when Tyler and Perry were performing on an extended stage ramp. After Tyler playfully bumps a soloing Perry, Perry — who was not facing Tyler — bumps him back, sending Tyler head-first into the crowd. Perry eventually helps Tyler back on stage and Tyler gives him a playful twirl.

Last August Tyler fell from a stage in Sturgis, South Dakota, leading to the cancellation of a tour and rumors that the long-sober rocker was off the wagon again.

Tyler later announced that he was taking two years off to pursue a solo career, with the rest of AEROSMITH responding that they would not sit around and wait for him to return. Tyler threatened to sue.

The singer eventually relented, saying he wanted to stay in AEROSMITH and entering a 90-day rehab to battle an addiction to painkillers.
