JON OLIVA'S PAIN: Touring Plans Revealed
November 6, 2006JON OLIVA'S PAIN, the solo project of SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva, will begin the first leg of its European tour on March 31 at the prestigious ProgPower UK Festival. The band will then return to Europe for the summer festival season and will play many all-acoustic dates between festival appearances. These shows will allow fans to "get a unique experience of SAVATAGE/JOP music and an intimate 'storyteller' environment as Oliva shares memories and stories about the history of SAVATAGE, his relationship with his late brother Criss and plenty of humorous moments from his 25-year career," according to a press release. U.S. tour dates for early 2007 are currently under consideration and the band hopes to announce shows very soon.
JON OLIVA'S PAIN will release its sophomore album, "Maniacal Renderings", in the U.S. tomorrow (Tuesday, November 7) via Locomotive Records.
"Maniacal Renderings" entered the German national chart at position No. 86 upon its release in September. The follow-up to 2004's "'Tage Mahal" was once again recorded at Audio Lab Studios in Tampa, Florida and is described in a press release as "a more progressive, complex and dramatic edge without sacrificing any of the songwriting quality that fans have come to expect during Oliva's 25-year career."
JON OLIVA'S PAIN has been confirmed as the headliner of next year's ProgPower Europe festival, set to take place October 7, 2007 in Baarlo, Holland.
