KISS: Never-Before-Seen Live Footage To Air On VH1
May 22, 2006According to KissKollector.com, never-before-seen KISS footage from some of the band's legendary '70s concerts will be aired as part of the the new VH1 documentary "Heavy: The Story of Metal", which is scheduled to premiere tonight (May 22). However, the information on VH1's web site only mentions the following about tonight's episode:" 'Welcome To My Nightmare' traces metal's roots in the late '60s in the bombed-out industrial town of Birmingham, England to the spectacular rise of KISS and 'glam metal' in the early '70s."
KISS will be performing at the "VH1 Rock Honors" show, which is scheduled to be taped at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 25. "VH1 Rock Honors" is the first-ever show to pay homage to the legends who influenced the sound of hard rock. This year's celebration will honor the music and influence of JUDAS PRIEST, KISS, QUEEN and DEF LEPPARD. Premiering on Wednesday, May 31 at 9:00 p.m., "VH1 Rock Honors" will include performances by all of the honorees as well as tribute performances by GODSMACK (who will be paying tribute to JUDAS PRIEST),FOO FIGHTERS (QUEEN) and THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS (DEF LEPPARD). An all-star band consisting of Rob Zombie (vocals),Slash (guitar; VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES),Tommy Lee (drums; MÖTLEY CRÜE),and Scott Ian (bass — yes, bass; ANTHRAX) — plus a "special-surprise" second guitarist — will be paying tribute to KISS. Riki Rachtman will serve as backstage announcer.
