Late AC/DC Singer BON SCOTT Featured In 'Face Painting With Bill Leak' Series

November 17, 2008

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, late AC/DC singer Bon Scott is one of six iconic Australians who are painted by 52-year-old artist Bill Leak as part of a six-part series called "Face Painting With Bill Leak". For the portrait of AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, Leak travelled to Perth to attend a tribute concert, then on to Melbourne, where he talked to Scott's former wife, Irene Thornton.

"We looked at all these quite moving letters that Bon had sent to Irene, which really showed you how much he aspired to wealth and adulation — something he really never got before he died," Leak said. "You also see how he did the hard yards: some of the letters are asking people for $50 here and there and talking about money that he owed to friends."
