LYDIA LASKA Signs To ROCK 'N' ROLL MUSIC Label
April 5, 2007Norwegian punk rockers LYDIA LASKA have signed to Jan Devik's Rock 'n' Roll Music label for the June release of their "We're Nothing Compared To Ourselves" EP. The label will release the CD version while Duplicate Records is scheduled to release the vinyl format a couple of months later. This will be the second EP release for the band, which has gained a well-merited notoriety in its home country due to the outrageous stage antics of cross-dressing, gender-bending vocalist Candy Whorehole.
Aside from Whorehole (MËKANÏK) on vocals, the band lineup consists of Voldswagen (MËKANÏK, ex-DISMAL EUPHONY) on drums, Tore Trang on bass, Jacques Matt on lead guitar, and Solan on guitar and "nipple sacrifice" — a reference to the incident in which Whorehole bit through the guitarist's nipple on stage.
The band has a lot going on over the next few months. In addition to recording and releasing their first full-length album, they will re-release their highly acclaimed first EP "White Trash Attack" on both CD and vinyl formats. According to drummer Voldswagen, the first EP "was only ever released for promotional purposes, and as a 'give-away' to friends, family and whoever held their hand out long enough. But interest in it has been so great recently that we are planning to release it in a limited edition version."
The video for "White Trash Attack", parts of which were tastefully shot in Voldswagen's kitchen, and which has been banned from Norwegian television, can be found on the band's official MySpace page.
