Makers Of Thrash Metal Documentary Defend Their Decision To Include Non-Thrash Bands
August 21, 2003The makers of "Get Thrashed", the upcoming documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, have issued a statement defending their decision to include footage in the film from such "non-thrash" outfits as GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SLIPKNOT, and KITTIE. "No one is saying that all the bands we've interviewed are thrash bands," reads a post on the filmmakers' web site. "Some of them certainly are, while other bands are not thrash bands ....they are thrash fans who respect, admire and have been influenced by what the old school thrash bands have done."
As previously reported, METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, VOIVOD and MESHUGGAH are among the other featured bands in the documentary, which is tentatively due before the end of the year. The brainchild of director Rick Ernst, a long-time freelance producer for MTV, the film will include interviews, live performances and archival footage.
