Malaysian Black Metal Concert Organizer Denies Planning Activities Against Islam

Malaysian national news agency Bernama.com has issued the following report:

The organizer of the black metal "Battle of the Bands" concert at the Negeri Sembilan Ceylonese Association Hall that was raided by police last Saturday, Friday denied that they were planning activities that contravened the teachings of Islam. "I swear in the name of Allah, we did not do things that are against the religion. I myself am totally against activities that contravene Islam like burning of the Quran," said Mustafa Kamal Abdul Rahman.

The patrons were also reminded not to use drugs, alcohol and bring sharp weapons, he said at press conference here Friday, during which he also apologized to the Malaysian Silat Cekak Association for being implicated with the concert.

The concert that began at 3pm involving eight music bands, was raided by the police at 8.20pm.

A total 105 people including four women were rounded up. Thirty of them were tested positive for drugs while three others were referred to the Islamic Religious Department.
