MAX CAVALERA On Possibility Of SEPULTURA Reunion: 'I Don't See It Happening'
October 18, 2015In a brand new interview with DCHeavyMetal.com, Max Cavalera was once again asked about the possibility of a reunion ofSEPULTURA's classic lineup — featuring Max (guitar, vocals) and brother Igor Cavalera (drums) alongside guitarist Andreas Kisser and bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr.. He said (hear audio below): "[It's] probably not [going to happen], you know. I mean, I don't see it happening and I don't really care much about it. I think the time has gone. When it was exciting to do it was, like, ten years ago. It would have been cool [to do it then], but not now. And we all moved on from everything. You know, I've got a lot of projects. I've got CAVALERA [CONSPIRACY], KILLER BE KILLED… SOULFLY is doing great. So I don't really need it, you know. It's, like, kind of let it become a, kind of, a cult thing as it was."
He continued: "You know, when I was with [SEPULTURA], we did great stuff. The records were amazing and the live shows were killer, and a lot of that is captured on video and people can see it. [I think it's best] not to ruin it, because a lot of those reunions, they're not really good, you know, so it's like, why ruin something that was good? So I think it's kind of better to leave it like that, you know."
In 1996, Max exited SEPULTURA after the rest of the band fired Cavalera's wife Gloria as their manager.
Max's brother Igor left SEPULTURA in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." Igor's departure from the band came five months after he announced that he was taking a break from SEPULTURA's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son (who was born in January 2006).
SOULFLY's tenth studio album, "Archangel", was released on August 14 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The CD was produced by Matt Hyde, who has previously worked with SLAYER and CHILDREN OF BODOM. The cover artwork was created by artist Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ICED EARTH, SODOM).
