MEGADETH Guitarist GLEN DROVER Preparing To Lay Down Leads On New Album
May 24, 2006MEGADETH guitarist Glen Drover has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:
"I have been working hard on getting myself in shape for the upcoming solo fest on the new album. Things are going very well! Dave [Mustaine] is now recording his rhythm guitar tracks in L.A., so it should be a few more weeks before I start my process."
The production duties on MEGADETH's as-yet-untitled Roadrunner Records debut are being handled by Mustaine and co-producer Jeff Balding. The initial studio sessions — held at Sarm Studios, outside of London — were filmed by director Michael Sarna (ANTHRAX, OBITUARY) and are available at Megadeth.com to fan-club members.
MEGADETH's last CD, "The System Has Failed", has sold just under 180,000 copies since its September 2004 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group, who were most recently signed to Sanctuary Records, were joined by bassist James Lomenzo (ex-BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION) in February following the departure of James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH).
As previously reported, three TV-broadcast video clips of MEGADETH's performance in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 9, 2005 have been posted online at YouTube.com. Check them out:
"Symphony of Destruction" (video)
"Coming Home" (video)
"A Tout le Monde" (video)
These clips are expected to be included on an upcoming DVD of the band's performance in Buenos Aires.
