MEGADETH: Water Bottle Incident Nearly Derails Salt Lake City Concert
September 16, 2006MEGADETH's concert in Salt Lake City Friday night (Sept. 15) as part of Gigantour 2006 came to a sudden halt a couple of songs into the band's set after an unidentified "fan" reportedly threw a water bottle at the soundboard, which caused the equipment to malfunction. "Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman] got PISSED," another fan who attended the concert wrote on the band's message board. "[He] said the concert was over left the stage and everything... but I guess everyone just talked him back into doing the concert after all. So after 30-45 minutes were wasted setting everything back up, the concert continue[d]."

The North American installment of Gigantour 2006 kicked off September 6 in Boise, Idaho. The trek features LAMB OF GOD, ARCH ENEMY, OPETH, OVERKILL, THE SMASHUP, INTO ETERNITY and SANCTITY in addition to the headliner MEGADETH. The trek's next stop is scheduled for tonight (Saturday, Sept. 16) in Denver, Colorado.
MEGADETH's new CD, "United Abominations", is scheduled for release in early 2007 via Roadrunner Records. Dave Mustaine recently told Gary Graff of Billboard.com that the album, which he's producing with Jeff Balding, "has a lot of variation on it. It's got some surprises, but there's a really old-school vein to it, I would say." The group has been careful not to rush the album, either, holding sessions in London, Los Angeles and Nashville since earlier this year.
