METALLICA's TRUJILLO Loves MESHUGGAH

March 9, 2009

Sweden's Afonbladet TV has posted a two-minute video interview with METALLICA's Robert Trujillo in which the bassist talks about his love for Swedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH. He says, "It's great coming up here [to Sweden] and playing. I have a lot of respect for not only the fans up here but also for some of the bands. Like, I love MESHUGGAH. They're one of my favorite metal bands. I personally would like MESHUGGAH some day to tour with us. I know they're very busy. 'Cause I think they're one of the most talented... I think they're underrated on the large scale. In other words, when I ask fans in the U.S., 'What do you think of MESHUGGAH?' Some people don't really know who they are and then there's other people who are like, 'They're amazing!' So it's just kind of like... Either it's hot or it's cold. It's like a discovery thing. I had a party for MESHUGGAH at my house one time during the Ozzfest. They all came to my house on their tour bus. We had a big barbecue and lots of people down in Venice Beach."

METALLICA was forced to cancel their second of two concerts in Stockholm, Sweden this weekend after frontman James Hetfield was struck by illness and briefly hospitalized. According the band's spokesperson, Hetfield was diagnosed with dehydration caused by a stomach bug.

Hetfield has since been released from the hospital and has returned to the U.S. along with the rest of the band.
