METALLICA's LARS ULRICH To Appear In 'Radio Dreams' Movie
December 17, 2014METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich will appear in "Radio Dreams", a new movie helmed by young Iranian director Babak Jalali. The offbeat comedy, which is based on a screenplay written by Jalali, started production on November 18 in San Francisco, with Ulrich shooting his scenes on December 8.
In addition to Ulrich, "Radio Dreams" will feature Mohsen Namjoo, a well-known Iranian musician, and KABUL DREAMS, an Afghan rock band.
In an interview with the Iranian METALLICA fan club Persian Magnetic, the movie's producer Marjan Moghimi stated: "We are currently in the process of shooting and producing the early stages of the film in San Francisco.
"The movie is set in a radio station where Mohsen Namjoo is a radio writer who is planning to bring METALLICA and KABUL DREAMS, the first Afghan rock band, face to face."
The "Radio Dreams" cast also includes Larry Laverty, Mohammad Tallani, Baala Verda, Mansoor Taeid, Mahmoud Shariker, Babak Mortazavi, Boshra Dastoor Nejhad, Zahra Rezayi Afshe and Firouzeh Mahmoudy. The film is set for release in 2015.

Jalali, who holds a master's degree in political science, was born in 1986 in Gorgan, Iran, but has lived mainly in London since 1986.
A graduate of the London Film School, Jalali's short film "Heydar, An Afghan In Tehran" was nominated for a BAFTA in 2006. "Frontier Blues", his first feature film, was developed through Cannes Film Festival's Cinefoundation residency.
KABUL DREAMS is considered to be the first rock band to emerge from Afghanistan after the Taliban was overthrown. The group plays music in both English and Dari — one of Afghanistan's native languages.
