MORTIIS Offers Update On Video, Touring Activities

October 7, 2002

Norway's MORTIIS has posted the following update via his official web site:

"Even though a certain young extra beat me to it by a couple of days, I'd like to tell you that we just completed the shooting for the upcoming video of 'Mental Maelstrom (Implode)'. (Which is a slightly altered version of the original song.)

"The video should be released to coincide with the 'reissue' of The Smell Of Rain (remastered, and includes several remixes). I have no idea who will air this video, but we're hoping for as many as possible.

"On a personal basis, I feel that this video is going to burn the last one to a crisp — it's a lot different and not at all what people would expect us to do (again).

"Oh, and since there appears to be some interest in the amount of bruises and who is actually nursing them at the moment, here's a bit of trivia:

"One certain 'Fetish Fiend' must have gotten carried away for real at some point, because she bit me so hard in the thigh that no hair will grow there anymore (!).

"During some additional filming from the night before I acquired a great big scratch on my shoulder while escaping flying hammers, woods and plaster — plus being pulled through a wall.

"I was on about 6 hours sleep in the 48 hours prior to the main day of shooting, so I was probably perceived as being a bit 'out there'.

"And nobody takes care of my bruises anyway, and least of all female members of my own family. Settled?

"We're sorry to say that things have been (as usual) fucking hard on the touring front, and even though we've tried our best to make it happen, everything we've tried to pull off so far has fallen through. Mostly because of the financial factor, and we're just not willing to go out there and look and sound just like most other bands:

"Boring.

"The latest downfall was the offer to tour Europe with SATYRICON, with SATYRICON headlining and MORTIIS supporting. This fell through mainly because the money wasn't there to make it happen or to even somewhat justify the band on stage.

"But obviously we're not giving up.

"(The most annoying thing of all is, we almost always have promoters ask us to play, or offers and suggestions for tours, but somehow it almost always falls flat. Usually because the financial issues won't allow us to do justice to our show...)

"We're still looking at playing live and as long as there's life in US yet, we'll be here to fuck things up — and that's a promise!!!"
