NAPALM DEATH Bassist's Action Figure To be Released In New Color

October 9, 2007

NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury has issued the following update:

"As you may or may not know, Gargamel a toy company based in Koenji, Tokyo issued a limited-edition figure based on yours truly a couple of years ago. Well, it seems to be a popular figure as it's just about to come out in a brand new color — green.

"I have spent a lot of time in Tokyo over the past few years and in doing so met a guy called Dennis who, like me, was totally into toys and old-school hardcore punk. We became great friends. He introduced me to they guys at Gargamel who are big fan of NAPALM DEATH and we started talking about doing a figure together. It seemed a crazy idea at the time but something that for me was very exciting.

"Obviously we wanted to tie the figure in with all the other Gargamel figures so there would be a general concept but the head design was based on some earlier pictures of me with the crazy frizzy hair. Also live I guess I make some pretty weird faces so that combined with the hair made up the head sculpture as were keen to keep the figure fantasy-based also. The guys over in Tokyo would email sketches until I said 'that's the one,' but it came together really quickly and I am pretty honored to have a toy figure made after me, that kind of thing doesn't happen to you every day.

"It would be great to do one of the other guys next!"

An audio interview with Shane Embury conducted on September 1, 2007 by Burhanudin Bin Buang (a.k.a. Brader Bo),host of "Vicious Volume", the only metal radio show in Singapore (airing on RIA 89.7FM),is available for download at this location.

NAPALM DEATH guitarist Mitch Harris was recently interviewed by Andrew Haug of Triple J's "Full Metal Racket" (based in Australia). Download the 14-minute interview in MP3 format at this location (6 MB).

NAPALM DEATH is continuing to tour in support of "Smear Campaign", the band's highly acclaimed new album. The disc, produced once again with Russ Russel, is an uncompromising, ferocious assault that continues to address serious social issues that plague today's society.
