OLEANDER Ink Deal With SANCTUARY
October 11, 2002The Sanctuary Records Group announced that it has signed the Sacramento, California-based band OLEANDER.
An EP, titled Runaway Train, is scheduled for release on Sanctuary Records on November 19th with a full-length to follow in early 2003. OLEANDER is heading out on tour with NICKELBACK in October and November.
OLEANDER's song "Runaway Train" is featured in the Showtime original movie Bang Bang You're Dead, a riveting portrayal of violence in America's schools, and MTV is also airing the video in heavy rotation.
The band, which includes vocalist/guitarist Thomas Flowers, guitarist Ric Ivanisevich, bass guitarist Doug Eldridge and drummer Scott Devours, debuted with a self-titled EP in 1996. The following year, the full-length album Shrinking the Blob yielded a local hit with "Down When I'm Loaded". The buzz generated by this success resulted in a deal with Republic/Universal Records. 1999's February Son went gold and included the # 1 Rock hit "Why I'm Here". Devours then joined the band and issued Unwind in 2001 which included the Top 5 Rock radio hit "Are You There?" A second single for the song "Champion" followed and climbed to the Top 15 in the Billboard Singles charts. All the proceeds from "Champion" were donated to the September 11 Relief Fund.
