OPETH: Vancouver Signing Session Announced

Swedish progressive metallers OPETH will take part in a signing session in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at Scrape Records (323 East Broadway; 604.877.1676) on Friday, October 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Finland's HardcoreSounds.Net conducted an interview with OPETH guitarist/vocalist Mikael Ã…kerfeldt at the Ankkarock festival, which was held August 2-3 in Korso, Vantaa, Finland. Watch the nine-minute chat below.

OPETH will embark on a European headlining tour in November/December. Support on the trek will come from THE OCEAN and CYNIC.

OPETH will team up with HIGH ON FIRE for a North American tour beginning later this month. NACHTMYTSIUM will open the first half of the trek, while BARONESS will open the second half.

"Watershed", the new album from OPETH, sold more than 19,000 copies of in the United States in its first week of release.

"Watershed" is the follow-up to the band's acclaimed "Ghost Reveries" CD, which debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard chart back in September 2005 with first-week sales of just under 15,000. OPETH's 2003 album, "Damnation", opened with a little over 5,000 copies.
