September 21, 2005

PARADISE LOST became the first British rock band to peform on the main square in Kiev (Ukraine),Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square). On Saturday, September 17, PARADISE LOST joined a bunch of famous Ukrainian and Russian bands, including TARTAK, MASHA & MEDVEDI and DETI PICASSO, during the 7th International Youth Festival, "Chayka" (Seagull). Sadly, the band were forced to perform without guitarist Greg Mackintosh, who was said to be resting in England after recently undergoing surgery. Afterwards, vocalist Nick Holmes commented, "This was a special show for us, because we didn't have Greg playing with us tonight. But he recently underwent surgery and is currently recovering. He will return to action as soon as he can."

When asked why they didn't not many songs from their earlier albums, second guitarist Aaron Aedy replied, "Because we were a four-piece band tonight. It's very difficult to play songs from 'Shades of God', 'Icon', 'Draconian Times' without two guitar players."

"We were committed for the concert as a four-piece (band),so we had to choose the songs that we could perform well as a four-peace," added Nick.
