PAUL STANLEY And PHILIP ANSELMO Make Their 'Mayweather Vs McGregor' Fight Predictions
August 23, 2017According to The Pulse Of Radio, Paul Stanley (KISS) and Philip Anselmo (PANTERA, DOWN, SUPERJOINT) made their predictions for this weekend’s big fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.
Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) will be returning from a two-year retirement at the age of 40. The 29-year-old McGregor (21-3 in MMA),meanwhile, is making his professional boxing debut.
Noted fight fan Anselmo, who used to write a column for Boxing Insider, gave UFC champion McGregor "zero chance" to defeat Floyd Mayweather in a straight-up boxing match. He said: "It's going to be a one-sided fight, with Floyd carrying him for as long as he possibly can.… Mayweather by a landslide, and he can knock McGregor out anytime he wants."
Stanley also favors Mayweather. He said: "I think people are expecting more of a fight than they might get. You have to remember Floyd Mayweather is a fighter who knows how to punch and get away. The idea of them going toe-to-toe, I think, is a fantasy. Sometimes people are disappointed by Mayweather's performance. But he's a technician. The idea that they're gonna go in and see who can knock the other out — I don't think that's in the cards, although I wouldn't be surprised if somebody winds up on the mat."
The August 26 bout is expected to beat the $72.2 million in ticket revenue from Mayweather's fight against Manny Pacquiao in May 2015. T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where Mayweather-McGregor will take place, is more than three thousand seats bigger than MGM Arena, where Mayweather-Pacquiao was held.
