PINK CREAM 69 Sign With SPV, Begin Work On New Album

July 9, 2003

Germany's PINK CREAM 69 have inked a new deal with SPV/Steamhammer Records. The group's follow-up to 2001's "Endangered" will be recorded later this year at House Of Audio studio in Karlsdorf, Germany for a January 2004 release. Bassist Dennis Ward will once again assume production duties during the sessions.

According to the band's official web site, the as-yet-untitled album will "connect the strongest elements of the albums 'Electrified' [1998] and 'Sonic Dynamite' [2000]."

In other news, PINK CREAM 69 have announced that guitarist Alfred Koffler is suffering from a disease by the name of focal dystonia in his left hand. "It is [an incurable] disease [that] causes cramps in the hand and makes the motions complicated, partly even impossible," the band said in a statement. "Although no specific improvement is [expected], Alfred [has] not given up hope and has appropriated a new game technology conformed to his situation.

"Due to the fact that they work with producer/bassist Dennis Ward, PINK CREAM 69 can work without pressure of time — they can guarantee that they can finish the record without quality losses.

"To guarantee the fans a 100% live quality, Koffel and the band decided to [add] a new guest guitarist [for their upcoming live appearances]. The decision fell on Uwe Reitenauer from their hometown Karlsruhe. Up to now Uwe, a full-time guitar teacher, has played in no famous hard rock/metal bands. However, he's the perfect match by his musical roots and guitar style to the multinational troop from Baden. His live debut in front of a big audience [took place at] this year's Bang Your Head festival where PINK CREAM 69 . . . presented the new [impressive] lineup on Saturday, June 28th, 2003."
