PLACE VENDOME Mastermind Talks About Working With MICHAEL KISKE

September 23, 2005

www.MichaelKiske.tk recently conducted an interview with Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69) about his PLACE VENDOME project, also featuring former HELLOWEEN singer Michael Kiske along with PINK CREAM 69 members Uwe Reitenauer and Kosta Zafiriou, plus VANDEN PLAS ivory tinkler Gunther Werno. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Q: How did you persuade to Kiske to make an AOR (Adult Oriented Rock) album?

Dennis: "I didn't persuade him, he was asked by Frontiers Records to do the project and Frontiers asked me to oversee the whole project. I hope my answers aren't too dissapointing but the project was quite simply pre-arranged by the record company. I had no say in who would have or could have sang [on the CD]. I am happy that Michael sang on the album because he did a splendid job."

Q: Do you think that Kiske accepted the offer to get involved with this project with a view towards releasing his next solo album through Frontier Records?

Dennis: "You will have to ask Kiske that. I do know that Frontiers, and other companies, do this all the time. It's like making a football team work. Look for the right players that play well together. I think it's a great idea and I'm happy to finally see record labels that are willing to work for their money instead of taking what the artist has done (a lot of hard work) and making money from doing absolutely nothing. Let's not forget that this is the music 'business' and that the word 'business' is larger than 'music.' We all want to live from making music and even the best legendary artist (like Davinci) have had to bend a little to make a living. And look where they are now, highly respected and legends."

Q: Michael Kiske said a few days ago that the PLACE VENDOME album is a bit too "hard" for his tastes. What do you think?

Dennis: "Sure, he would prefer to do a more POP record. For me the record is very AOR and not at all hard other than the opener 'Cross the Line'."

Q: Dennis, is there a chance of us seeing you in another Kiske project?

Dennis: "We are discussing doing something in the future, possibly a similar project but a bit more along Michael Kiske's tastes. We'll see!"
