NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor recently confirmed that NIN will tour with JANE'S ADDICTION later this year, indicating that he has also been in the studio with the reunited band. In a post at the official NIN web site, Reznor wrote that the team-up was inspired by their first road trip together on the inaugural Lollapalooza festival back in 1991. Reznor said, "These performances essentially created and defined the term 'alternative'rock in the U.S., created an ongoing festival franchise that is still thriving, set the stage for NIRVANA to shift popular taste a few months later, and were really fucking FUN to play and attend — truly the best times I've had."
Reznor did not reveal when the tour would begin, but hinted that the shows would be NIN's last for the foreseeable future, saying, "It's time to make NIN disappear for a while."
As for his studio sessions with JANE'S, which played its third Los Angeles club gig in recent months on February 16, Reznor did not specify what they were working on, but said, "Emails were sent, phone calls were made, dinner was arranged, ideas were discussed and the next thing I know we're in the studio experimenting . . . I get to see first-hand why they broke up all those years ago but I also get the chance to see four distinct personalities that become an INCREDIBLE band when they're in the same room."
