QUEEN's 'We Will Rock You' Musical To Close

November 2, 2005

Rick Garman of Vegas4Visitors.com is reporting that "We Will Rock You", the musical featuring the songs of rock supergroup QUEEN, will close at Paris Las Vegas at the end of November after more than 500 performances.

Officials with both the hotel and the show are trying to put a positive spin on it, suggesting that it was always viewed as a limited engagement and that the show is going on to bigger and better productions in South Africa and Switzerland, but just about everyone agrees that "Rock You", while popular, was never quite the out-of-the-park hit it was hoped it would be after the success of "Mamma Mia!" down the street at Mandalay Bay.

There's no word yet on what will replace the show at Paris Las Vegas, but this might be the opening salvo in a string of rumored shakeups in the showrooms at Harrah's properties in Las Vegas.

According to BroadwayWorld.com, the plot of "We Will Rock You" features an alternate feality future where an evil queen who despises rock music, and she has an aide who is meant to banish this music and anyone who listens to it. However, the aide not only harbours a secret love for the music he is supposed to persecute, he has insane ambitions of his own.
