QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE: New CD To Feature Guest Appearance By ZZ TOP Guitarist?
July 23, 2004Billboard.com is reporting that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE were joined this week in a Los Angeles studio by ZZ TOP guitarist Billy F. Gibbons. According to QOTSA's official web site, Gibbons "rolled into the studio ... at the stroke of midnight and left at 5 in the A.M."
It is unknown if Gibbons' contributions will make the cut for QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's next Interscope studio album, QOTSA's first since the spring departure of bassist/vocalist Nick Oliveri. Group leader Josh Homme is recording the set with drummer Joey Castillo, multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen and "Desert Sessions" collaborator Alain Johannes. Assisting Homme during the sessions is producer/engineer Joe Barresi, who worked on QOTSA's self-titled, 1998 debut. QUEENS OF THE STONE's last album, 2002's "Songs for the Deaf", has sold 901,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
