"Heavy Metal Box" was released on October 2 via Rhino Records. The four-disc, 70-song set boasts classic tracks from IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, MOTÖRHEAD and SLAYER, among dozens of others. Arranged chronologically from 1968 to 1991, the compilation also boasts hits from bands like DEEP PURPLE, METALLICA, BLACK SABBATH, IRON BUTTERFLY, PANTERA, ALICE COOPER, VENOM, TESTAMENT, RUSH and MEGADETH. True to its name, the project is literally packaged in a metal box resembling a Marshall guitar amp. The liner notes include extensive photos, track commentary, interviews with Ronnie James Dio and Lita Ford and an essay by METALLICA's Lars Ulrich on the New Wave of Brish Heavy Metal (NWOBHM).
