RUSH Post Tsunami Benefit Performance Online

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that RUSH have posted their performance from last month's Canada For Asia tsunami benefit online. The official Rush.com web site has a link to the new version of their 1977 hit "Closer To The Heart", which features fellow Canadians Ed Robertson of BARENAKED LADIES and actor Mike Smith, who's best known as Bubbles on the Canadian TV series "Trailer Park Boys". The band has also posted this message: "RUSH are huge supporters of this cause and urge you to kindly donate at Unicef.ca or by calling UNICEF at 1-877-955-3111." The video can only be seen with the latest version of the free Windows Media Player.

A lot of artists might not have performed with a comic actor like RUSH did in the video, but singer-bassist Geddy Lee told Launch that he's never been afraid of making a mistake in public. "You know, you look back, and sometimes you go, 'What was I thinking?' But that's part-and-parcel of, kind of, being slightly experimental," he said. "That means you're gonna make mistakes, and you're gonna, you're gonna be off the mark sometimes. But I think it's important for all artists not to be afraid to make mistakes in public."

Smith and the "Trailer Park Boys" are big RUSH fans. In the episode "Closer To The Heart", the character Ricky goes to RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson's hotel room, which is 2112 — 2112 being the title of RUSH's 1976 concept album.

RUSH is up for a Grammy at this year's awards show, which will air live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 13. The track "O Baterista" from their "Rush In Rio" live album is up against music from THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND, LOS LONELY BOYS, STEVE VAI, and BRIAN WILSON.
