Search Continues For Missing GUNS N' ROSES Fan

November 22, 2004

BBC News is reporting that police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of a rock fan in Chicago, two years after she had travelled to the city for a concert.

Kirsty Omerod (photo),22, from Newport, U.K. had travelled to the American city in November 2002 to watch GUNS N' ROSES.

Her last known movement was on November 20, when she used a cash machine to withdraw a small amount of money.

Gwent Police said this week that the investigation into her disappearance was continuing.

The force is working with detectives in the USA and the FBI's Missing Persons Bureau in an attempt to trace Omerod.

They have said they are keeping an open mind about Omerod's disappearance.

Detective Sergeant John Giles, of Gwent Police, said: "The investigation is continuing and we are following a number of lines of inquiry.

"We are making every effort to solve the case."

Omerod's family, from Leeds, Yorkshire, said her disappearance was out of character.

Her mother Kate said: "Kirsty is a bit of a free spirit and has done her own thing in the past without telling us.

"But she has always contacted us after two or three months."

Omerod, then aged 20, had travelled to Chicago alone in 2002 to watch GUNS N' ROSES perform at Chicago's All State Arena on November 16.

In the months following her disappearance, the band issued a statement urging Kirsty to contact someone to say she is safe and well.

Omerod is described around 5ft 6ins tall, of medium build with long hair and blue eyes.
