SEPULTURA Guitarist Slams W.A.S.P.'s 'Rockstar' Attitude

June 8, 2005

SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has issued the following statement regarding his side-project BRASIL ROCK STARS' abbreviated performance at last weekend's Extreme Music Festival in São Paulo, Brazil:

"I would like to thank all of you who went to the 'Extreme Music Festival' last saturday, that was a big event. I also would like to thank the band ELECTRIC FUNERAL who invited me to play 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' with them, that was awsome.

"Some of you guys might be wondering why I left the stage so suddenly, without thanking everyone and without finishing the show that I programmed.

"There was a lot of disorder in regard to the time each show was supposed to start, and since I played right before W.A.S.P., I was the one at fault.

"W.A.S.P.'s tour manager practically threw my band [BRASIL ROCK STARS] off the stage, [forcing] us to stop the show.

"Fuck that... I left the stage really upset with the attitude of those Americans. A thing like that has never happened to me in my 20 years of playing; I have never seen such a display of rudeness and disrespect.

"I ask for forgiveness for not having explained what had happened, and for not having said good-bye to everyone.

"Thanks to all of you who suported me, we'll see each other at the Centro Cultural São Paulo in July 1st and 2nd to play a full concert — without that kind of 'famous rockstar' attitude from artists that think they are what they were many years ago..."

SEPULTURA shot a live DVD on April 3 in São Paulo, Brazil for a late 2005 release. The group's complete setlist for the show can be found at this location.

As previously reported, SEPULTURA are in the process of writing material for their new studio album, which is said to be based on the "The Divine Comedy", widely considered the greatest epic poem of Italian literature, and one of the greatest of world literature.

SEPULTURA's latest CD, "Roorback", was issued in North America in August 2003 via SPV Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Nation" was recorded and mixed by producer Steve Evetts (SNAPCASE, EARTH CRISIS) at Mosh Studios in São Paulo, Brazil, and was released in Europe in May 2003 through SPV.
