SIKTH Unveils Anniversary Re-Release Of 'Death Of A Dead Day', Remixed By ADAM 'NOLLY' GETGOOD

Visionary British prog-metal legends SIKTH have announced "Death Of A Dead Day MMXXVI", a fully revived and remastered edition of their critically acclaimed and highly influential sophomore album "Death Of A Dead Day". Mixed by longtime collaborator and admirer of the band Adam "Nolly" Getgood, the new version arrives twenty years after the LP's original release, celebrating the album's anniversary and cementing its legacy as one of the most important progressive metal releases of all time. "Death Of A Dead Day MMXXVI" will be released on December 4, 2026 via Cooking Vinyl.

Accompanying the announcement, SIKTH have shared a brand new version of "Flogging The Horses" providing fans with a first taste of the upcoming release.

Speaking on "Death Of A Dead Day MMXXVI", SIKTH guitarist and renowned producer Dan Weller comments: "I can't quite believe it's been 20 years since 'Death Of A Dead Day'. It's an album that we're still incredibly proud of, and it means a huge amount to us.

"We're really excited for people to hear the 2026 version, with Nolly bringing his fresh take to the mix. I think it's turned out great. It's also pretty crazy to think that Nolly was one of the first people to start making SIKTH guitar covers on YouTube when the album was originally released. In a way, that makes him the perfect person to revisit it — there aren't many people who know 'Death Of A Dead Day' as intimately as he does."

Speaking on his experience reviving the album, Getgood says: "It's hard to overstate just how impactful 'Death Of A Dead Day' was on me, and on so many of the people in my circle. Giving the album a sonic freshen-up has been an absolute joy and left me even more in awe of what the band created 20 years ago.

"When I started the remixing project, I wondered if peering behind the curtain would take away some of the magic, but the opposite was true: the songs are more majestic, heavier and more deeply layered than I ever realized, and the performances are so incredibly bold and characterful. As a body of work it's still so fresh, perhaps even more relevant than before with all that has happened in the progressive metal space in the interim.

"I hope this remix brings it all back again for OG fans, and blows away new listeners the same way it did for us back in 2006!"

Released on June 6, 2006, "Death Of A Dead Day" was the album on which SIKTH's musical language reached its most concentrated and influential form. Songs such as "Bland Street Bloom", "Flogging The Horses", "Sanguine Seas Of Bigotry" and "Part Of The Friction" moved between punishing grooves, technical counterpoint and extraordinary vocal performances.

The album's achievement lay not simply in its difficulty, but in making extreme technicality feel physical and dramatic. Weller later offered a more prosaic description of its creation: "For us it was just a bunch of dudes arguing and trying to write these really difficult songs." Looking back on the band's original instincts, he added that "we knew we were making music for the future."

Its long-term influence grew as a new generation of progressive-metal musicians embraced displaced accents, polymetric structures and rhythmically intricate guitar work. SIKTH did not single-handedly invent djent, but their first two albums provided an essential bridge between the experimental metal of the 1990s and the progressive-metal explosion of the following decade.

Few British metal bands have exerted an influence as profound as SIKTH. Formed at the turn of the millennium, the six-piece helped redraw the boundaries of progressive and technical metal through rhythmic complexity, virtuoso musicianship, contrasting dual vocals and an approach to songwriting that rejected conventional structures.

SIKTH's defining lineup was established in 2001: vocalists Mikee W. Goodman and Justin Hill, guitarists Dan Weller and Graham "Pin" Pinney, bassist James Leach and drummer Dan "Loord" Foord. Goodman's screams, spoken narratives and theatrical character voices contrasted with Hill's melodic and aggressive singing, while the instrumentalists approached complex arrangements with remarkable precision.

Long before "djent" became an internationally recognized movement, SIKTH were exploring many of its defining ideas: tightly controlled syncopation, shifting meters, interlocking guitar patterns, elastic bass lines and sudden transitions between extreme heaviness, melody, ambience and spoken word. While MESHUGGAH provided an important earlier foundation, SIKTH translated those possibilities into an eccentric, distinctly British form encompassing mathcore, hardcore, progressive rock, jazz, punk and the avant-garde.

Their influence can be heard throughout the generation that followed, including PERIPHERY, TESSERACT, ANIMALS AS LEADERS, PROTEST THE HERO and textures. periphery bassist and producer Adam "Nolly" Getgood has described "Death Of A Dead Day" as a game-changing connection between him, Misha Mansoor and PERIPHERY. He has particularly cited James Leach's inventive use of tapping, slap bass and melodic counterpoint as a major influence.

Twenty years after its release, "Death Of A Dead Day" remains embedded in the language of contemporary heavy music. SIKTH's catalog may be compact, but its reach is vast. Through originality, technical brilliance and a refusal to observe genre boundaries, they have earned their position as virtuosos, innovators and architects of modern progressive metal.
