SLIPKNOT's JIM ROOT Talks Gear With FENDER; Video Available
February 11, 2009When SLIPKNOT performed in London, England on on the band's European tour late last year, guitarist Jim Root and Fender got together and went through Jim's gear. The ten-minute clip can be viewed below.
SLIPKNOT percussionist Chris Fehn told KansasCity.com that he thinks his band could eventually be even bigger than soon-to-be-Rock-and-Roll-Hall-of-Famers METALLICA. Fehn said, "I think we're going to overtake METALLICA. We're going to overtake any band that sells out soccer arenas in Europe. We're going to do it. We're the last chance as far as the world goes."
Even though the masked men from Iowa have several gold and platinum records under their belts, Fehn thinks they could reach the same peak METALLICA hit with their self-titled 1991 "black" album, which sold more than 15 million copies in the U.S. alone. Fehn said, "We haven't even made our 'black' record yet. Wait until we do that. It's over, dude."
Catching METALLICA might be a long shot, but singer Corey Taylor told The Pulse of Radio that no one expected SLIPKNOT to be around for 10 years either. "I can't believe it," he said. "I mean, it's funny too because I've seen so many 'next big things' come and go in the last 10 years. I kind of look around and I'm like, 'Wow, we're still here.' I mean, I can remember every time we put an album out, somebody would write us off. And we just kept getting bigger and bigger, and for me it feels really good to have not only proved so many people wrong, but to have proved ourselves right."
SLIPKNOT's latest release, "All Hope Is Gone", has been certified gold for moving more than 500,000 copies since its arrival last August. It was also the band's first No. 1 debut on the Billboard chart.
