SLIPKNOT's New Album Has 'Iowa' And 'Vol. 3' 'Moments,' Says COREY TAYLOR
May 18, 2019SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor says that the band's upcoming album has "moments" that are musically reminiscent of those on the "Iowa" and "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" LPs.
The band's sixth album, "We Are Not Your Kind", is scheduled to be released on August 9 via Roadrunner. The disc's first single "Unsainted", was made available on Thursday, along with an official music video directed by the band's own M. Shawn Crahan.
Earlier today, Taylor took to his Twitter to write: "Thanks to the millions of #maggots around the world. Spoiler: new album has Iowa moments. Also has Vol. 3 moments. But it overwhelmingly has WANYK moments. Everyone's a critic, but I hope this clears up any misconceptions. Enjoy the next chapter- see you all soon!"
"We Are Not Your Kind" was once again recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" and helmed SLIPKNOT's 2014 album ".5: The Gray Chapter".
A year ago, Taylor said that SLIPKNOT's next album would make ".5: The Gray Chapter" "look like nobody's business." He added: "This is 'Iowa' levels of heavy."
More recently, he told 95.5 KLOS's Full Metal Jackie about "We Are Not Your Kind": "We are taking some really cool risks musically. We're dipping into some evil we haven't played with in a long time, let's put it that way. It's got little hints of everything we've ever done, but it's got some of the heaviest stuff we've ever done as well."
