SOUL SIRKUS To Open For VAN HALEN In Calfornia

July 10, 2004

SOUL SIRKUS, the new "supergroup" formed by singer Jeff Scott Soto (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TALISMAN, AXEL RUDI PELL, TAKARA, HUMAN CLAY),guitarist Neal Schon and drummer Deen Castronovo (both of JOURNEY) and bassist Marco Mendoza (THIN LIZZY, WHITESNAKE, TED NUGENT),are tentatively scheduled to open for VAN HALEN at two shows in Northern California in early August. The dates are as follows:

Aug. 10 - HP Pavilion - San Jose, CA
Aug. 13 - Oakland Arena - Oakland, CA

"As official as the announcement is they are confirmed to play, there is a chance Eddie [Van Halen] may pull the plug on this at the last minute," according to a posting on the group's web site. "No reason or explanation was given on this but with the announcement of these shows, we had to make a contingency so as not to leave anyone disappointed if this last minute decision surfaces."

As previously reported, SOUL SIRKUS have recorded eleven tracks, which are currently being shopped to interest labels by Irving Azoff Management while JOURNEY is on tour. Irving Azoff Management also handle JOURNEY, VAN HALEN, SEAL and CHRISTINA AGUILERA. According to a posting on Soto's web site, "The tracks are in a contemporary, heavy vibe, giving the band a huge flexibility of melody & muscle. One can predict the elements of Neal & Jeff's pasts are heavily apparent, yet the sound is a new fresh one, combining the best of their influences." MP3 clips of the tracks "Highest Ground", "Praise", "Periled Divide", "Coming Home", "Soul Goes On" and "Closed The Door" are available at this location.
