Special AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE 'Headbanger's Ball' Episode To Air This Weekend
April 21, 2005MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball" will be airing a special AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE episode this weekend in honor of AHC guitarist Bryan Ottoson, who was found dead in his bunk on the band's tour bus on Tuesday (April 19).
As previously reported, Ottoson died from overdosing on prescription drugs, according to MTV.com. Police said that a bottle containing "numerous amounts of prescription medicine" was found in the 27-year-old Ottoson's bunk after his body was discovered before a show in North Charleston, South Carolina. Ottoson's bandmates told police that they had last seen the guitarist alive at 4:00 a.m. as the band was departing Jessup, Maryland for South Carolina, and that he had consumed large amounts of alcohol at a Jessup bar the prior evening.
AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE were touring with MUDVAYNE, LIFE OF AGONY and BLOODSIMPLE. It is not clear whether the group would rejoin the tour at any point. The band members were headed home to Minneapolis yesterday.
Tour headliners MUDVAYNE issued a statement that said, "Bryan was a friend and a gifted musician and we're extremely saddened by this tragic loss. We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans and brothers in AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE. We're drawing on the love and strength from all of our fans to carry on with this tour and dedicate the remaining dates to his memory."
