STAM1NA: 'Vanhaa Paskaa' Lands On Finnish Chart
November 15, 2010"Vanhaa Paskaa" (which literally translates to "old shit"),the new collection of old demo recordings which were originally "self-released" on cassette tape or CD-R format before Lemi, Finland-based metallers STAM1NA signed a deal with Sakara Records, has entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 2. The compilation was made available in response to an overwhelming demand from fans who couldn't track down the band's early material.
A video for the song "Yhdeksän Tien Päät" — which is included on "Vanhaa Paskaa" — can be viewed below. The track was recorded during the studio sessions for STAM1NA's third album, "Raja", but did not end up on the final CD.
STAM1NA made several demos between 1997 and 2004. The group's first recordings were sung in English, and from those there is only one track included on the "Vanhaa Paskaa" album — "Meet Your Fate", which was also the first song ever composed by the band.
STAM1NA's first Finnish-language demo was released in 2001 and the "Vanhaa Paskaa" album contains all the demo material the band recorded in Finnish.
