SUICIDAL TENDENCIES: Recording Update

SUICIDAL TENDENCIES have posted the following message on their official web site:

"Monday was another drum session for the 'Return to Venice' project. As you probably have read in the past, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES has been working on and at its new studio. This has been a major highlight, proud spot and focal point for the band in terms of creativity and ability to move forward with its various musical and visual projects (more on that later).

"With the assistance of Paul Northfield (producer/engineer on numberous high-profile bands, including SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and INFECTIOUS GROOVES),the band now has the perfect set up to continue its musical ambitions.

"Paul came out last October to produce the new INFECTIOUS GROOVES CD. Everything was going great, and the excitement of recording a record at your own studio was quite the rush. The band left to headline the 'Eastpak Resistance Tour' and was to finish the CD when the tour was over.

"Unfortunately Mike Muir hurt his back the first show and continued to do the whole tour, but when he got back, he had to have immediate surgery on his back. This put an unfortunate end to the various tour/record releases, plans etc for 2004.

"Paul was recently able to come back and help the band on the studio technically, and then SUICIDAL TENDENCIES started in on the new project on their own. At STudio, we're able to do all the tracking/vocals/mixing, the only exception is recording drum tracks.

"For the new INFECTIOUS GROOVES, the band did the drums at Larrabee East Studio, before doing the guitars, bass and vocals at STudio. For the 'Return to Venice' CD, the band went in and recorded drums at Stall #2 (also know as the studio owned by Fletcher of PENNYWISE). Then we it was back to STudio to do the first band project completely self engineered. This was a bit of a gamble, but all felt the time was right. With Esteban, MM, and Dean taking turns at the helm, everything ended up going better than planned and quickly the band realized that this project was very feasible to go forward.

"So Monday the band was back at Stall #2 to record some more drums. Another good day, even with the 'brothers' both late as usual. Steve (back from Puerto Rico playing bass for SNOOP DOGG) didn't get there till 7 after spending 4 hours on the freeway. Then after the mandatory Mexican food dinner break we got started at about 8. We got down the last songs we needed and one more for the INFECTIOUS GROOVES.

"Thursday Steve will come in to do his bass, and then will do guitars when Dean gets back from Vegas (no he's not gambling, he's playing a black tie event). Then when MC and Deano are done with guitars, it's vocals and then some rough mixes."
