SUM 41, WEEZER, SEVENDUST Among Rumored Performers For 'mtvICON: METALLICA'

March 26, 2003

SUM 41, WEEZER, JA RULE with SEVENDUST, KORN and KID ROCK are rumored to be among the performers on MTV's "mtvICON: Metallica", the music tribute to the San Francisco metal pioneers, which is set to premiere Tuesday, May 6 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). The show will be taped before a live audience in Los Angeles on May 3, and will feature performances and testimonials from artists and celebrities who have been influenced by the band, their videos and music. METALLICA will perform for the first time with new bassist Robert Trujillo, who will reportedly be presented by members of the seminal British group DIAMOND HEAD — widely credited for being one of METALLICA's main musical influences during the band's formative years. Also rumored to be making an appearance via a recent Mexican newspaper article are LIMP BIZKIT, THE HIVES, LINKIN PARK, AEROSMITH, GARBAGE, FOO FIGHTERS and COLDPLAY.
