Surveillance Video Of PEARL JAM Bassist Robbery/Assault Available

May 15, 2009

Surveillance camera footage of PEARL JAM bassist Jeff Ament being attacked and robbed outside Southern Tracks Recording in Atlanta, where the band was working on its next album, can be viewed below. Although the attack took place on the afternoon of April 27, details have just emerged about the incident. According to a police report, Ament and a band employee had just pulled up to the back of the studio when three men wearing black masks and gloves and holding knives came out of the woods, smashed the windows of a Jeep and robbed Ament of his passport, $3,000 in cash and $4,320 in goods. Ament was also knocked to the ground and had to receive treatment for a head laceration from EMS on the scene.

The attackers escaped in a waiting black Nissan Maxima. No arrests have yet been made.

PEARL JAM has not issued an official statement on the incident.

PEARL JAM is in the studio recording its ninth album with producer Brendan O'Brien, who worked on several of the group's early efforts.

The band will hit the road this summer, with two festival appearances and two headlining shows confirmed so far. Singer Eddie Vedder also heads out on a solo run next month.
