THE PANIC CHANNEL Continuing Work On Debut Album
October 21, 2005THE PANIC CHANNEL, the new band featuring three quarters of the most recent lineup of JANE'S ADDICTION (guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Chris Chaney) and former SKYCYCLE vocalist Steve Isaacs, have cancelled their previously announced November 5 show at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles "due to scheduling conflicts." "We are in the home stretch of finishing our record and we need to make use of our time to get this thing done," Navarro writes in an online posting. "Our producer, Josh Abraham [KORN, COURTNEY LOVE, LIMP BIZKIT, VELVET REVOLVER], is only free for so long as well as his studio."
With regards to the progress of the recording sessions for THE PANIC CHANNEL's debut album, Navarro writes, "The tracks are coming out really great and Steve Isaacs has been doing a fantastic job, not only with his vocals and creativity, but with keeping the momentum alive. I went in the other day to do some guitars and I was blown away with the progress he has made." Songtitles slated to appear on the as-yet-untitled album include "Half Hearted", "Tea House of the Spirits", "Bloody Mary", "Loophole", "Blue Bruises" and "Said You'd Be".
With regards to the band's musical direction, Navarro recently told MTV.com, "I would say there's elements of both [JANE'S ADDICTION and Navarro's 2001 solo LP, 'Trust No One'] to the music, but some of the stuff's a little more song-oriented than anything we've done before, and some of it's real experimental. So, as with everything that we've done, it's very diverse."
