THE PRETTY RECKLESS's TAYLOR MOMSEN Rules Out Using A.I. For Songwriting: 'I Just Don't Understand The Point Of That'
October 20, 2026In a new interview with Lipps Service With Scott Lipps, THE PRETTY RECKLESS frontwoman Taylor Momsen was asked if she would ever consider using artificial intelligence (A.I.) as a tool for writing music. She responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Fuck no. Fuck no. What is that? No. I mean, believe me, A.I. terrifies me in a multitude of ways, but that's more in the grand scheme of, like, 'Terminator' and the world.
"Everyone's talking about A.I.'s gonna take over the music industry, and it's gonna take over songs, and blah, blah, blah. It's, like, yes, but it doesn't affect me at all, because A.I. can't emote for me," Taylor explained. "I write songs 'cause I need to say something, and I need to get it off my chest. I need to get it out."
Circling back to the idea of using A.I. during the compositional process, Taylor said: "Like, what is the point of that? What is the point of that? I genuinely don't understand what the point of that even is. Having a computer emote for me or make something for me is the antithesis of what creating is. I just don't understand the point of that."
Earlier this week, THE PRETTY RECKLESS unveiled the official music video for "About You (Bonus Version)". Originally featured on THE PRETTY RECKLESS's fifth studio album, "Dear God", released in June, the new version of "About You" includes additional instrumentation and backing vocals from FOO FIGHTERS' Dave Grohl and Pat Smear.
The release follows a landmark campaign for "Dear God", one of the defining rock records of 2026. "When I Wake Up" extended THE PRETTY RECKLESS's record-breaking streak with the band's ninth No. 1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, the most by any female-led act in the chart's history. Produced by Taylor Momsen, Ben Phillips and Jonathan Wyman, their fifth studio album finds THE PRETTY RECKLESS embracing vulnerability, intensity, and creative freedom, delivering one of the band's most unfiltered releases to date.
Following the completion of the North American leg of their headlining "Dear God" tour and wrapping up the AC/DC "Power Up" tour after almost three years on the road with the rock legends, THE PRETTY RECKLESS recently performed at the Grammy Museum, offering fans an intimate look at their music and creative process. Momsen also reunited with SOUNDGARDEN at the Seattle Seahawks' season opener last month, joining the legendary rock band for a special performance. Additionally, the lead singer joined Matt Cameron, Mike McCready, Tom Morello and Robbie Mangano for a SOUNDGARDEN tribute at this year's Power To The People festival.
THE PRETTY RECKLESS is currently preparing to hit the road again for the European leg of the "Dear God" tour.
