TONY MARTIN's Upcoming Solo Tour To Concentrate On BLACK SABBATH Material
April 9, 2005Former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin and his solo band will make their first-ever appearance in Italy, supporting Martin's new solo album, "Scream", and playing all the best songs from the Tony Martin years in SABBATH.
The concert will take place on May 14 at the Harley Davidson Super Rally in Paliano (province of Frosinone).
Commented Martin: "Somehow folks I gotta fit this in between the police driving course I gotta do to get my licence back and all the other stuff I'm doin but I'm determined to get it in somehow. I've asked my son to play guitar and a few other friends to help out with it. I'll give more info later.
"IT HAS BEGUUUUUUUUNNN!!!!!!
"More dates will follow, mostly at the end of the summer, I think. I'm doing the new EMPIRE album with Rolf Munkes around June, but then that should be the end of collaborations forever!!! ... 'Spose I shouldn't say that, 'cuz you know what'll happen!!!
"Anyways, I'm really lookin forward to it and hope some of you guys can make it out there. Damn it, just get yer Harleys out and ride mothers!!!"
With regards to the upcoming "Scream" solo CD, Martin writes, "I have decided on the artwork for the album. I had an original idea for it but was sent some stuff from an artist called Rory Fiorito and it has inspired me! So now I have to change all my plans for the original artwork and re-group. Not a big problem but significant." Check out the artwork at this location.
"I also have teamed up with a promoter in Europe for 40 Tony Martin shows starting around the summer playing the Tony Martin SABBATH years. His name is Stefano Luciano and we met when I worked with the dragons. Great bloke but HUGE!!! Like 2 meters!"
The follow-up to Martin's 1992 solo effort, "Back Where I Belong", "Scream" is scheduled for release this spring. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Bitter Sweet", "Field of Lies", "Wherever You Go", "Unbearable", "Raising Hell" and "Wings of Thunder". The first pressing of the album will be limited to 2,000 copies, with a wider release planned a few months later. The late SABBATH drummer Cozy Powell (ex-RAINBOW, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) will be featured on two of the album cuts, "Raising Hell" and "Wings of Thunder". Commented Martin about Cozy's appearance on the CD, "when I fronted COZY POWELL'S HAMMER, he gave me 20 drumming tracks to write some songs with. I forgot I had them untill I found them recently in the move to my new house."
