TWISTED METHOD Guitarist's Death Still A Mystery

The News-Press is reporting that it could take weeks to determine what killed the former guitarist for popular Cape Coral, Florida rock band TWISTED METHOD, according to the District 21 Medical Examiner's Office.

Andy Howard, 23, died Friday (Sept. 16) in bed at his home, police reported.

The medical examiner's office hasn’t ruled on a cause of death, and it's awaiting results from blood work and toxicology.

TWISTED METHOD manager Charlie Pennachio said the medical examiner told him Howard probably died of heart disease, but the office wouldn't confirm that Monday afternoon.

A visitation is schedule from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Fuller Funeral Home, 1910 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral. Relatives and friends are invited.

Funeral services haven't been scheduled.

TWISTED METHOD were one of only two rock acts to originate in Lee County, Florida and go on to sign national recording contracts. The band were signed to MCA in 2002 and released "Escape from Cape Coma" the following year. In 2003, the group were tapped to perform on the second stage at Ozzfest.

Over the past two years, TWISTED METHOD continued to tour and and bring new "inmates" (as they called their fans) to their asylum of sound. Their first show back home after Ozzfest at the defunct Neptune's was sold out and their performance at radio station 99X's X-Fest stole the show from more popular bands such as PUDDLE OF MUDD and TRAPT. Howard quit the band earlier this year to spend more time with his young twin girls.

Following TWISTED METHOD's split in June, the group's vocalist, Derrick "Tripp" Tribbett, formed a new project called MAKESHIFT ROMEO with ex-TWISTED METHOD bassist Derek DeSantis (who plays guitar in the new band). The new group also includes ex-MOTOGRATER bassist Jonny Nailz and former SLITHERYN drummer Tom "T-Bone" Burke.
