VINCE NEIL: 'Anything That I've Done Wrong, I've Learned From'

September 20, 2010

MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil told Reuters that he wrote his upcoming autobiography, "Tattoos & Tequila: To Hell and Back with One of Rock's Most Notorious Frontmen", in order to give his side of the storied history of the band, which has sold about 25 million albums in the United States alone.

"There's been so much written about MÖTLEY CRÜE. I've never really had a voice," Neil said.

Regarding the comments he made about Ozzy Osbourne's wife and manager Sharon in his autobiography (Vince calls her "the most evil, shittiest woman I've ever met in my life," before adding, "She would fucking have you killed if it was to her advantage"),Neil told Reuters, "This was my experience with Sharon 25 years ago. She was not very kind to MÖTLEY CRÜE."

In his book, Neil also slams his bandmates, faulting bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee and guitarist Mick Mars for not supporting him following the 1984 car accident, and disputing their account of the events that led to his 1992 departure.

"[Nikki] likes to portray himself as the Messiah. Everything is his. Everything is his idea," Vince writes. "In Nikki's world, he has to be known as the 'thinker,' or the 'creator;' He needs to be seen as Mr. All-Important. Nikki Sixx, tortured soul. Just like Tommy [Lee, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer], he's another one of those guys who just love the whole fame thing."

Neil told Reuters the hard living has been worth it — with the exception of the shame he feels about his infamous 1984 DUI accident, which resulted in the death of Finnish glam band HANOI ROCKS' drummer, Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley, and a vehicular manslaughter charge.

"I don't have any regrets. Anything that I've done wrong, I've learned from," Neil said.

"Tattoos & Tequila" is scheduled for publication on September 23.
